The steering wheel light is yellow (not red) which doesn't indicate a complete failure.

My mums mark V Golf has the esp light on the dash, pressing the esp button does not turn if off, turning car ignition off and then back on does not clear the light. They often return 3 or 4 times in one instance. Esp light comes on after 10 mind of driving normally quickly followed by steering light on vw golf mk 5. (temp about 50 degrees).

Car is vw golf mk5 I’ve had different suggestions from faulty ecu to steering angle sensor.

This happened 3 days in a row when starting the car in the morning. I had noticed no problems with it until today when I saw the lights on.
